Potential MSc/PhD projects may include (but are not limited to):
  • spatial and temporal mapping of earthquake and tremor source characteristics
  • tremor source studies using array techniques
  • triggering studies of non-volcanic tremor and VLFEs
  • studies of induced seismic sources based on lithology
  • studies of intraplate seismicity and the relation to regional and local stress field
  • linking deformational features of active normal faults to seismic observations

Desired background
I am open to work with students and postdocs from a variety of disciplines, including geophysics, physics, geology, and geography, however, a strong quantitative background is a must for doing research in seismology. Experience with Unix/Linux platforms is strongly preferred, and programming skills in any/all of the following will be helpful:  Python, Matlab, Perl, shell scripts, C, and Fortran.
